A Comparison of Students and Faculty Members View Points About the Application of TQM Indices at the University of Isfahan

Abstract

Total quality management (TQM) is considered as those activities and managerial system that emphasize on customers satisfaction continious quality improvement, decision- making based on inputs provided through need assessment, and participation of all members of organization. There are many countries studies about this management approach in developed and developping countries that have benefyed them. There has started a movement in Iran regarding TQM which present study is one of them in higher education.
Statistical population of the study is all of the Isfahan University's faculty members and students and statistical sample was selected through stratified sampling. Data was gathered through check-list and question naire and were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statisles. Findings showed that all of four TQM indices have been used less than optimal level. With regard to necessity of teaching process improvement at university, revising the present managerial approach and substituting them with new approaches like TQM is a must. And this requires knowing more and get familiar with TQM.
