The Comparison of Eisner's With Miller's Curriculum Ideologies: Another View

Abstract

Within the field of education, there is a subfield called "curriculum". Curriculum as a field of study, theoretically speaking, had been one of the most challenging and uncertain fields of study among different branches of human knowledge. One of these discussions resulting in some debates amongst the scholars of this field is the curriculum ideologies or normative curriculum theories. The topic of curriculum ideologies is one of the fundamental and debatable topics in curriculum. A glance on the literature of the past decades considering the subject shows that it has seriously concerned, so that there are considerable literature on it. Miller and Eisner are two famous authors who have written worthy work in this subject. The aim of this paper is to study on Miller's and Eisner's thoughts on the depth manner and to logically illustrate the various understandings on the curriculum ideologies. So, reviewing on the viewpoints of them, their ideologies are rethink and their main implications are inferred. Then, comparing Miller's with Eisner's ideologies, the conclusions are obtained. The findings of the comparison and analysis show that there are fundamental differences in the philosophy and worldview of these two pioneers.
