A Reflection on the Approaches to Values Education: A Review about Values Education and its Development at the Education System of Iran

Abstract

The purpose of this study is a reflection on the approaches to values education and its development at the education system of Iran. In this article, we have used analytical and descriptive methods. Research findings show that values education is inherent component of education and values have to be translated to students on basis of rational processes and free will. Also, it seems that some of values-educational dimensions, particularly moral education, in the document/book of theoretical and fundamental change in the educational system of Iran, have been neglected and are only viewed inside of religious dimension. The study shows that in order to effective change to the education system of Iran, we need to focus on moral and character education as much as on religious education.
