Abstract

The main Purpose of this study is to explore The Qur'anic concept of Taqva its pedagogical implication of the nurture of virtue. Methodologically, conceptual analysis, conception development was used. Verses from the Holy Quran that share the root of taqva were identified and were taken into consideration. Based on anthropological foundations of Taqva in holy Quran, the process of Taqva entails a goal-oriented valuing of options and making preferences at the moment of selection. The selection can be based on instinctive, intellectual or religious criteria but it contains all three phases of diagnosis, preference, and practical commitment to preferred option. On this basis, Taqva requirements are: “consideration of alternatives prior to selection”, “The cost / benefit analysis (valuing) of each alternative and identification of the best option”, “Understanding barriers to recognition and practical preference of the superior choice (identification of threats and pitfalls of the course of action) and strategies to overcome them”, “preference of the superior alternative for action” and “practical commitment to preferred course of action and, ultimately, staying on that course”.
